Whistleblowing Policy

MACSAIL encourages a culture of openness and transparency, where individuals feel
confident to raise concerns about wrongdoing, malpractice, or risks without fear of
reprisal.

1. Purpose

This policy provides a framework for individuals to raise concerns about illegal, unethical, or improper conduct
within MACSAIL. It ensures that whistleblowers are protected from detriment and that concerns are investigated
promptly and thoroughly.

2. Scope

This policy applies to all MACSAIL employees, volunteers, trustees, contractors, and anyone working on behalf of
the organisation. It covers concerns about criminal activity, failure to comply with legal obligations, miscarriages of
justice, health and safety risks, environmental damage, safeguarding failures, financial malpractice, and deliberate
concealment of any of the above.

3. How to Raise a Concern

Concerns can be raised verbally or in writing to your line manager, the Designated Safeguarding Lead, a trustee,
or through our confidential reporting channel at whistleblowing@macsail.org. You should include the nature of the
concern, any relevant dates and details, and whether the concern has been raised previously.

4. Confidentiality

MACSAIL will treat all disclosures confidentially wherever possible. The identity of the whistleblower will not be
disclosed without their consent unless required by law or necessary for safeguarding purposes.

5. Protection from Retaliation

MACSAIL will not tolerate any form of harassment, victimisation, or disadvantage towards anyone who raises a
genuine concern in good faith. Any such retaliation will be treated as a serious disciplinary matter.

6. Investigation Process

All concerns raised will be acknowledged within five working days. An appropriate investigation will be conducted,
and the whistleblower will be informed of the outcome where possible. If the concern relates to criminal activity, it
may be referred to the appropriate authorities.
